Accessibility of ONLYOFFICE editors

Introduction

ONLYOFFICE editors are designed to accommodate users with special needs to make the editing process comfortable and simple. Please note that the list is not exhaustive and new features will be added in upcoming updates. If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them on GitHub.

UI Tweaks

  1. Support of various scaling presets (125% / 150% / 175%). The scaling presets are used to change the size of the working area (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editors).
  2. Options to fit the editing area to page/screen width (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editors).
  3. Options to hide/show toolbar, status bar, and rulers (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editors).

Color modes

  1. Support of light / classic light / dark UI theme.
  2. Chart elements can be displayed in high-contrast mode or have geometrical patterns to be distinguishable without being colored (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).

Hotkeys

Most operations can be carried out via hotkeys, or keyboard shortcuts (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).

Useful Plugins

  1. Text can be read out loud via the Speech plugin.
  2. Text can be automatically corrected via the Typograf plugin.
  3. Text can be automatically translated via the Translator plugin.
  4. Text can be inserted with your voice via the Speech input plugin.

Screen Reader Support

Enable screen reader support in the editor settings (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).

AutoCorrect Features

  1. Spell-checking is enabled by default. All misspelled words will be underlined with a red line (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).
  2. Alignment guides are enabled by default (see corresponding articles for Document / Presentation Editor).
  3. Options to replace symbols as you type (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).
  4. Straight quotes are replaced by smart quotes by default (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).
  5. Two en dashes are replaced with an em dash by default (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).
  6. List items automatically get bullets or numbers by default (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).
  7. First letters of sentences are capitalized by default (see corresponding articles for Document / Presentation Editor).

Objects

Images can have alternative text description (see corresponding articles for Document / Spreadsheet / Presentation Editor).

SmartArt objects, colors on the palettes, autoshapes, charts, and symbols have alternative text description.
