After you install Desktop Editors on Windows 10, you may want to associate files with the application so that always use this program to open the selected file types. To associate office documents files with Desktop Editors on Windows 10, you should perform the steps described below.

Open Default Apps

If you did not check the Open Default apps box in the installation wizard, you can always open the Default apps window in the following way:

  1. Open the Start menu using the Start menu button in the lower left corner.
  2. Press the Settings Settings icon.
  3. In the Windows Settings window that opens, select the Apps item.

  4. In the Apps & features section, click the Default apps option in the left-side menu.

Scroll down the Default apps page and choose one of two options: Choose default apps by file type or Set defaults by app. You can use any of these two options in the ways described below.

Option 1: Choose default apps by file type

This option allows you to select a default application that should open files with a certain file extension. This setting is applied to each file type individually.

  1. Find the necessary file extension in the list on the left.
  2. Click the Choose a default link or a square icon to the right of the necessary file type.
  3. In the Choose an app pop-up window, choose the ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors program.

Repeat these operations for other file types you want to associate with Desktop Editors.

Option 2: Set defaults by app

This option allows you to associate different supported file types with the selected application.

  1. Click ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editops in the application list.
  2. Click the Manage button located below.

  3. Click the Choose a default link or a square icon to the right of the necessary file type.
  4. In the Choose an app pop-up window, choose the ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors program.

Repeat the latter two operations for other file types you want to associate with Desktop Editors.
